ugh, spent a few days killing a hornet nest in the dirt
under my concrete porch. Repeatedly sprayed into the hole, stuffed the opening
with a sprayed rag, repeat over a few days.

Glass of red wine nearby. Yellow jackets and wasps divebomb that thing, get drunk, and then drown.

Here’s my trick to deal with them. Put a hose on the hole and let it trickle flow overnight or until it fills. I had German Wasps in my yard in what I believe was a hollowed out Lilac stump. I put the hose on it for 24 hours and it never filled. But then again the wasps never came back either.

Starter fluid kills them faster than bug spray

I’ll try that next time.

I’ll try that for the next ground nest. This episode,
I wouldn’t have wanted to further erode the foundation of my slab concrete porch
.

I've heard brake cleaner also works.

Growing up it was always a portion of gasoline down the hole with a trail back 6ft, cap the gas and set it down another fair distance back, and then hit the lighter on the trail, and watch the ground torch for a while.
There were also nice fireballs sometimes. The 80s were a good time to be a kid.

I did the gasoline at my last house, the nest was out in the field. Didn’t ignite though.
This nest was a foot
away from
the house under the concrete slab porch.
I feel that
would not end well!.
